Élisabeth

  • Old Customs House 8 Phillimore Street Fremantle, WA, 6160 Australia (map)

Discover the world of Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre. Appointed to the court of Louis XIV as a young woman, Jacquet de la Guerre's vibrant and fiercely original output included ballets, chamber music, cantatas, solo works for harpsichord and opera. She was widely considered in her time to be one of Versailles’ most formidable composers, improvisers and performers.

In this unmissable event, dynamic Baroque collective HIP Company bring these masterpieces to life, against a stunning backdrop of original choreography by acclaimed French ballerina, Claire Voss.

Performed by Bonnie de la Hunty (soprano), Eliza McCracken (violin), Krista Low (viola da gamba), James Huntingford (harpsichord), Robin Hillier (Baroque flute), with dancers Claire Voss and Ivan Tarakanov.

Please join us after the concert for refreshments sponsored by Victory Point Wines. This project is supported by the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries in Western Australia.
